The VRM series is a 1064nm frequency-doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG laser system that is uniquely designed with a dual pulse mode. The treatment involves a two steps process: the first step is the facial application of a topical carbon lotion, and the second step is to use a combination of the Spectra mode and the “soft peel” or Q-switched mode within the system, aiming at a gentle stimulation of the epidermal keratinocytes and the dermal cells associated with skin rejuvenation through the combination of controlled heating of the skin, followed by a superficial photopeeling of the epidermis.
The Soft Peel mode involves 3 passes of the Q-switched mode, and this setting mainly focuses on treating pigmentation such as melasma. It is similar to a medium depth chemical peel but much more controllable, with no side effects and no down time
The Spectra mode significantly reduces comedones, inflamed acne as well as enlarged pores. Dr. Phoebus Wong suggested that both the Spectra/Soft peel can be combined with light therapies to enhance treatment results
